December and February, several units, one booking

Student Move-Out Waste Removal in Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch empties and refills on a university calendar. A landlord with four units and one bin is the standard failure, and it is avoidable at the booking stage.

When it happens
The academic year ends in November and December, and the next intake arrives in January and February. Both ends produce waste: the move-out leaves furniture, bedding, broken fittings and the things nobody carried home; the move-in produces packaging and the replaced items.
Book ahead of the week, not during it. Every landlord in town books in the same fortnight.
Several units, one address
Say how many units and whether they are on one property. A single 6m³ will not clear four flats. The practical arrangement is an 8m³ for the first pass with a swap booked, or two bins standing together.
If the units are in different buildings, that is several deliveries, not one, and it should be quoted that way.
What goes in the bin
Old furniture, mattresses, bedding, broken chairs, kitchenware, packaging. Not: paint, cleaning chemicals, gas canisters or anything a student left that might be hazardous. Check the cupboards before the bin arrives.
Anything usable is better donated than tipped, and it also reduces the bin size you need.
Access in the student streets
Stellenbosch's student housing sits in narrow streets close to the centre, with limited parking and shared driveways. A bin that blocks a driveway will be moved or reported. Agree the standing place with the landlord and the neighbours before the drop.
Permission
A bin on a public road or verge in Stellenbosch needs the municipality's written consent, and the bin must carry the responsible person's details, reflective chevrons and a cover. A bin in the yard of the property does not.
The two weeks that matter
Leases end in November and December and the next intake moves in during January and February. Both ends of that cycle produce waste, and both land in the same fortnight for every landlord in Stellenbosch.
Book in October for a December clear-out. The bin that is available in September is often not available in the first week of December.
Sizing it by the number of units
A single student unit cleared of furniture, bedding and general waste is usually a 4m³. Four units on one property will not fit a 6m³, however tidy the tenants were. In practice that means an 8m³ for the first pass, with the swap already booked for the day it fills.
If the units are in different buildings, that is several deliveries rather than one, and it should be quoted that way from the start.
What to do with what is still usable
Beds, desks, chairs and kitchenware that survived the year are better donated than tipped, and donating them reduces the bin size the property needs. What is left is furniture that has failed, broken fittings, and the rubbish that accumulates in a shared kitchen.
Do not let paint tins, cleaning chemicals or gas canisters into the bin. Check the cupboards before the truck arrives, because a hazardous item found at the facility turns a completed clear-out into a refused load.
Handing the property back
A landlord's clear-out usually has a deadline behind it: the next tenant's lease starts, or the managing agent inspects. The bin has to be gone before that date, which means the collection is booked with the delivery rather than requested when the bin is full.
Photograph the property after the clear-out. It is the quickest answer to a deposit dispute and it costs nothing.
Questions before you book
Short answers. Where the answer depends on the operator, the page says so instead of inventing a number.
How many bins for four flats?
More than one. Four units cleared of furniture and general waste will not fit a single 6m³; book an 8m³ with a swap, or two bins.
Can I book in November for December?
Yes, and you should. The month is the busiest of the year in Stellenbosch.
Can the bin stand in the driveway?
Yes, if the property's driveway is clear and the truck can get in and out. On-street placement needs municipal consent.
The request
Request a bin for your address
The town and one line about the job — what you are clearing, the size, the date and any access constraint. The town decides which operator sees it, and the price comes back as a quote, not a guess.
- One form. No account, no card, no obligation.
- A local operator confirms the size, the hire period and the price.
- Nothing is dropped until you accept the quote.
The request desk is not the skip company: the operator who quotes you delivers and tips the bin. The footer of every page says the same thing.
